Kath Bonson

Creating her unusual vessels, Kath is mainly influenced by the landscape, colours and textures of the West Yorkshire Pennines where she lives. Each work reflects an aspect of her experience of the landscape.

Kath uses different types of clay and likes to experiment with pigments and glazes to get the desired effect.  Using her own photography, she developed her own technique of screen printing onto clay, where the image becomes an integral part of the body and the glazing.  Often these images are deliberately slightly indistinct, as if they were a shadow or trace left behind on the stone, or a fleeting image you may see as you are driving past.

Her work ranges from large scale exhibition pieces to those designed for a more domestic setting and includes freestanding pieces, vases, vessels and wall based designs.
