Helen was born in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Helens favourite subjects at school were Art and Creative Textiles. After leaving she did a BTEC National Diploma in design (display) in Gloucester with aspirations of becoming a visual merchandiser. After this she gained a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Derby University.
She had various jobs after this including Art Technician in a secondary school, mural painter, workshop manager and tutor for Hobbycraft, demonstrating for Pebeo and visual, merchandiser. She was involved in silk painting and batik for many years, teaching classes and giving talks to art societies.
Helen creates her work in whatever medium feels right for a particular project or painting. Having recently moved back to Derbyshire from Wales, Helen is working towards exhibitions with her silk paintings inspired by the natural world influenced by her background in graphic design. These latest designs reflect the transient nature of the seasons, creating bright, bold patterns and form.
